Rainforests bedecked with clouds, chattering birds flash brilliant colors as they dart about, flowers bloom en masse high above the forest floor while streams glisten and flow hurriedly over great boulders on their journey towards the sea. This enchanted land is Chiriqui, Panama.

Chiriqui Panama is a beautiful landscape of beaches, rainforests, mountain peaks, and coffee plantations. Topographically, the Cordillera Central spreads from Costa Rica through the western portion of Panama like a jagged spine that separates the northern provinces from those of the south. It is on the lower southern slopes and plains that Panama's population is concentrated in and along which runs the Pan American Highway.

In the province of Chiriqui, the towns of Boquete and Volcan comprise the most scenic to be found in Panama. The lowland areas give way to gentle rolling hills that have been cleared for agriculture and pastureland. Climbing further, the mountains become steeper, their slopes more densely forested and by noontime, they are often enveloped in clouds that change their color from fertile green to a misty blue.

The Panama Canal and the long standing involvement of the United States, (Panama has the highest per capita US investment in all of Latin America is one reason why Panama's infrastructure is far and away the best in Central America. Highways, airports and shipping centers are extensive and well maintained.

The Province of Chiriqui is positioned just below Bocas del Toro, runs adjacent to the Costa Rica border to it's west and along the Pacific Ocean to it's south. The largest community in this province is David, which is a short distance from the Pacific coast. To the north of David lies the "Cordillera Central" mountain range, where one can find the popular tourist areas of Boquete, Volcan and the Baru Volcano.The mountain portion of Chiriqui has the country's coolest temperatures, and climatic patterns that differ from anywhere else in Panama. There exist communities settled at 6,000 feet above sea level, where the evenings in particular are very cool and damp; temperatures often reach 0 degrees Celsius (32 degrees Fahrenheit), or cooler. It is in this region that coffee is grown, milk and cheese are processed, and ornamental plants are grown for export.Chiriqui is located on the southwest extreme of Panama. There they produce some of the best citrus fruits and world class coffee, as well as strawberrys in Cerro Punta. Cattle and vegitable farms are also very abundant in this province. The word "Chiriqui" means "Valley of the Moon" in the native Guaymi language. Chiriqui is a beautiful province with a diversified landscape, from the sandy beaches on the coast up to the green mountain forests. Boquete, Chiriqui

Known for it"s cool, fresh climate and pristine natural environment, the small alpine town of Boquete is nestled into a mountain valley approx. 35km (22mi) north-northeast of David, as are the popular towns of Volcan and Potrerillos. They are fine places for walking, bird watching, horse riding and enjoying a change from the heat of the lowlands. Flowers, coffee and citrus fruits are grown in these areas and Boquete's Feria de las Flowers and Coffie is an annual festival held in January. Boquete is a good base for climbing 3475m (11,400ft) Volcan Baru, 15km (9mi) west, or visiting the volcano's 14,300-hectare (35,320-acre) national park.

Buying Titled Properties in Panama

Panama has a reliable Public Registry system, and this office maintains a record of all titled properties throughout most of Panama. Information regarding titled properties is readily available through the Public Registry, and is a fairly routine process to undertake through due diligence on a lot or property (finca). Your Panamanian attorney can issue you in writing an abstract title of the land, along with any and all liens, mortgages, covenants, encumbrances, maps, verification of tax payments and utility bills, special characteristics, ownership history, fence lines, encroachments, shared driveways, and registered surface area, and can verify that the person who is selling the property is the actual owner. All juridical processes in Panama are conducted in Spanish. All contracts for property must be written in Spanish on a formal public deed, and signed before a public notary, in order to be legally enforceable and to be filed at the Public Registry.
